Water Rights Engineer

A $500M Colorado-based real asset private equity firm is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to support and grow all aspects of its investments in water resources in Colorado. The firm focuses on agricultural, water rights and water storage assets located throughout the state and they are in need of a self-motivated, entrepreneurial candidate with experience in the water resources industry. This position is not a design engineering manager, rather a water rights / feasibility management position. Candidates must have this experience within the last few years.
Job D! uties:
- Management responsibilities for portfo! lio assets
- Extensive interaction with agricultural operators, mutual ditch companies, attorneys, engineers, governmental agencies, municipalities and energy companies
- Manage all aspects of Colorado water resource projects including but not limited to water court applications, substitute water supply plans, augmentation plans and objector stipulations
- Manage water resources in oil and gas projects, stream restoration and fisheries
- Industry research, due diligence and transaction execution for new opportunities
- Participation in deal origination and due diligence
- Purchase and Sales of water rights to/from municipalities, energy companies, conservancy districts, agricultural and others
- Evaluate Purchases in regards to water rights
- Oversee purchase and sale of contracts
- Oversee Water resources planning projects
¿ Strong technical understanding of water ! resources including historical consumptive use analyses, groundwater hydrology, exchanges, augmentation plans, water storage, and recharge
¿ College degree in water engineering ,hydrology or other degree with an emphasis in water resources
- 5 years of experience in water resources
- Experience in Colorado water law, water resources engineering, water court applications, development of substitute water supply plans and augmentation plans
- Experience in the acquisition and development of water rights, water storage and associated infrastructure
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional work ethic and ability to accomplish objectives with little supervision
- Strong and applicable academic record and work history
- Good understanding of pipeline easements
