As the trademark leader for our Digital business segment, including our Kindle family of products, you will directly interact with ! teams to protect their brands, trademarks, and domain names. R! esponsibilities include direct management of clearance, prosecution, maintenance, and enforcement of our growing US and foreign trademark portfolio, client counseling, licensing, merger & acquisition activities, developing and implementing trademark policies, and educating and coaching the business on use of trademarks.
Position reports to the Director of Intellectual Property and would be an attorney in a small and dynamic team of IP professionals responsible for domain and trademark issues globally. Compensation based on experience and includes equity compensation.
Basic Qualifications
- At least 9 years of experience with trademark issues, especially those relevant to Internet companies.
- Experience managing a trademark portfolio, consisting of domestic and foreign marks.
- Experience leading investigations and negotiations to resolve 3rd party trademark disputes.
- A J.D. degree and membership in good standing in a! t least one state bar
Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate:
- Ability to understand and resolve complex legal and business issues.
- Ability to effectively translate IP issues to members of the technology, business, management, and legal teams.
- Ability to be responsible for all trademark related activities for multiple business segments, including training, branding, clearance, prosecution, maintenance, and enforcement in a fast paced, frugal environment.
- Expert-level knowledge with respect to domain name registration, DNS, and dispute processes as well as online forms of trademark abuse.
- Creativity, attention to detail, commitment to customer service, and excellent communication skills.
