Under administrative direction, performs highly responsible legal work as the general counsel and the chief l! egal officer for the Cabinet Secretary and executive staff of the Division of Corrections. Serves as the advisor and chief legal authority receiving general policy direction from the Secretary. May represent the department before a court of competent jurisdiction after authorization by the Attorney General. Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Training: Admission to the West Virginia State Bar.
Experience: Five years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid employment in the practice of ! law.
Attorneys with experience related to the duties described or the functions of the Department are especially encouraged to apply. (Ex: Administrative Hearings, Corrections, Public Safety, Government Organization and Operations )
Substitution: One year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid employment as an attorney with the hiring agency shall be considered the equivalent of two years of experience.
