West Virginia University’s Division of Student Affairs - Student Life unit is seeking a motivated and talented Attorney to join the Student Legal! Services team. Reporting to the Manager for Student Legal Services, duties include, but are not limited to, representing eligible WVU students regarding their legal rights, responsibilities, and obligations; advising and representing students in various types of civil disputes; drafting legal documents for students; assisting with the Student Mediation Program, and supervising law student interns. The incumbent is required to comply, at all times, with the Code of Professional Responsibility as adopted by the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia and as amended by said court from time to time.
This is a 20 hours per week, benefits-eligible position. Office hours for this position will be determined by operational need and in coordination with the Manager. The Attorney must be available for counseling to all students during regularly posted office hours.
The Successful candidate must possess a J.D. from an accredited ABA Law School and must be licensed! and able to practice law in the state of West Virginia. A min! imum of two (2) years of progressively responsible legal experience, to include experience in the area of Civil Law, is required. A minimum of two (2) years of experience with Magistrate Court, Circuit Court, and Family Court procedures, and Experience in mediation and mediation training is preferred.
