OBJECTIVE:
Position is responsible for the overall enhancement and champion of the company culture and climate regarding transportation safety, workplace safety and learning for the entire organization comprised principally of CDL Drivers and other support personnel. Working with business managers, provides leadership and counsel on safety related issues including the creation and implementation of programs, training and performance assessments aimed at preventing accidents and injuries, monitoring driver safety, OSHA, development and enforcement of company safety policies, management response to emergency occurrences, development, distribution and monitoring of training materials including recommendations for corrective action or precautions to ensure overall safety and healthful working environments.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
I. Policy and Administration a. Develop, implement and maintain corporate safety training policies and programs b. Develop "best practices" model in safety and learning techniques c. Establish accident and injury investigation procedures and report such activities d. Identify trends in unsafe practices, accidents, injuries; develops record keeping and analysis system e. Responsible for the company's CSA safety performance and scoring system f. Advise senior management of company trends and overall compliance they relate to industry standards II. Compliance a. Continually monitor governmental regulatory requirements to ensure company compliance b. Oversee accident investigations, manage emergency occurrences and report findings c. Develop measurement criteria and controls to ensure accountability d. Manage the driver and vehicle audit programs e. Administer and maintain the safety incentive program and its budget III. Training and Development a. Provide guidance and direction with company selection, hiring and orientation process b. Oversee safety and learning training programs i.e. OTJ, online, classroom for effectiveness c. Identify safety training needs and development requirements for existing employees d. Creates training calendars' and coordinate delivery of programs e. Works with management to ensure policies and practices are a part of standard operating procedures IV. Risk Management a. Identify and analyze risks for the company as they relate to vehicles, employees, and the workplace b. Manage all related property and employee related claims for the company c. Serve as company liaison to brokers, insurance carriers, enforcement agencies and attorneys. d. Represents the companies best interest on compliance, claims issues and legal proceedings QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.), in related field preferred. Minimum of 10-15 years experience in transportation.
