Verizon Enterprise Solutions is looking for a lawyer with at least 4 years of experience and with expertise in international data privacy/data protection laws and regulations to establish and monitor data privacy/protection processes globally (globally here is in all but the US and EU/Western European countries). The lawyer also will be responsible for providing advice on and ensuring compliance with data privacy/protection laws in countries in those regions. The ideal candidate will be a talented attorney with initiative and drive who can handle a high volume of varied and complex legal work, experienced in interna! tional data protection/privacy. This position reports to a Gen! eral Counsel of international and can work from either Ashburn or Arlington, VA.
Supporting international data privacy and data privacy requirements globally (in all countries outside the EU/Western Europe and the US);
Supporting product development and marketing attorneys in the roll-out of international products by advising on data protection/privacy issues;
Supporting projects throughout the company that have data protection/data privacy implications such as outsourcing and efforts to consolidate databases by providing country specific advice on data protection/privacy issues;
Setting up and monitoring data protection/privacy processes for corporate entities in all countries globally;
Ensuring compliance with data protection and data privacy laws globally;
Assisting contract lawyers globally on questions related to data privacy/protection arising in global contracts; and
Educating colleagues in legal on data ! protection/privacy issues.
Qualifications
Member of a state bar
Excellent academic performance in college and law school;
Explaining Data Privacy/Data Protection laws and issues;
Understanding and as necessary managing complex international issues;
Supporting various projects and efforts to streamline processes, including customer contracting and in working with various functional groups across the company to do the same;
Supporting projects to streamline the provision of guidance on data protection/data privacy laws on internal projects
Language skills would be beneficial
