Job Summary
Manages patients accounts and answers all account inquiries. Provides customer satisfaction in a efficient and timely manner.
Essential Functions
- Assist with ! in-coming calls and other inquiries for patient accounting que! stions. Handles customer concerns or problems, and researches and answers questions. Processes correspondences within 24 hours with follow-up ensuring telephone calls and messages are returned within 48 hours.
- Submits inquiries that need assistance beyond the ability of the PAR/CSR to the appropriate management.
- Updates and/or makes appropriate changes in the software system to insurance screens, demographic information, and statement screens.
- Initiates monthly payment contract on accounts for patients who meet CHS guidelines.
- Maintains communication with different departments regarding activity on patient's accounts as needed. Informs manager of problems and recommends solutions. Makes supervisor aware of errors to alert management of departmental needs to change/revise. Reviews EPB's for correct adjustments and liabilities; posts patient accounts accordingly.
- Performs all clerical functions required to handle a request to compl! etion. Interacts with other CHS departments, physicians' offices, insurance companies, and attorneys' offices to resolve issues.
- Assist with inventory, ordering, and distribution of supplies and pharmaceuticals excluding controlled substances.
Work requires sitting for majority of the work day, minimal standing and walking. This position requires telephone and computer use majority of the day. Must be able to reach, bend and lift up to 10 pounds. This position requires interaction with patients, family members and CHS staff. Must be able to concentrate and analyze information. Each employee has the responsibility to work in a safe manner.
Education, Experience and Certifications
High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelors Degree preferred. 1 year Patient Accounting experience preferred. Personal Computer experience and previous experience related to billing and collection of third-party payers and/or state agenci! es preferred.
