Asst Racing Secretary

Position Summary:
Position focus is to ensure that correct and safe daily operations are performed by self and staff. This position is empowered to ! train, supervise, coordinate and/or work directly to ensure all racing issues are addressed and/or completed in a timely, productive manner.
Essential Functions:
Ensures compliance with Wheeling Island policies, procedures, standards, and regulations
Ensures compliance with WV Racing Commission procedures, standards and regulations.
Charts and records every greyhoundâs performance for every greyhound race.
Helps to set up and chart official schooling races.
May perform the automatic computer shake for post positions.
Assists in doing all put-ons, take offs, distance changes and out slips for racing greyhounds.
Assists in entering incoming greyhound information into the Racing system.
Assists in the correct and adequate scheduling and supervision of leadouts and minor racing officials.
Assists in ensuring proper associate selection and training; timely wage increases; counseling and termination; attendance and vacation us! age.
Assists the Paddock Judge with weigh ins, weigh outs,! and greyhound identification processes.
Assists in the delivery and stocking of kennel commissary supplies.
Reports and addresses any unsafe conditions / environment to the Director of Racing Operations
Prioritizes tasks, handles multiple projects simultaneously, organizes and delegates assignments
Maintains a professional relationship with kennel personnel while helping to address their needs and concerns.
Maintains a safe work and customer/associate environment at all times.
Performs as a team member and assist fellow associates to ensure a smooth operation
Provides leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge and skill
Understands the goals and vision of the organization and demonstrate commitment to those goals in terms of individual and team performance
Completes other duties / special projects as assigned outside current position classification
Experience Required:
High School diploma or equival! ent required
One to two years related experience required
West Virginia Racing Commission License required
Current motor vehicle license required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage people effectively
Proven ability to meet or exceed established goals including the ability to meet established deadline.
Role models the GuestPath Universal Service Standards interacting positively through relationships with guests, fellow associates and members of the management team displaying genuine concern and mutual respect for peopleâs needs
Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and percentages
Intermediate computer skills
Ability to work inconsistent shifts and varying days depending on track needs, this includes
Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift or carry 50-90 pounds
