Handles most aspects of workers' compensation cases in litigation before the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board from inception to ultimate conclusion.
Position Requirements
Files all original medical reports with the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board, and serves copies of such reports upon every other party to the action.
Arranges for depositions in connection with these cases as required.
! Prepares material for the hearing, including the interviewing ! of witnesses and any necessary contact work.
Conducts the defence of applications before the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board.
Review medical reports from the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board Medical Bureau or from independent Medical Examiners appointed by the Board, evaluates permanent disability ratings issued by the Permanent Disability Rating Bureau of the Board (all of which are filed and served after the conclusion of the hearing), and recommends to the Claims Department any further work to be done on the particular case involved.
Prepares Petitions for Reconsideration, Petitions to Reopen for Good Cause, and prepares answers to such petitions when filed by any other party to the action.
Contacts in person, by telephone, and by correspondence with the following are an integral part of this job: Workers' Compensation Judge, members of the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board, attorneys representing applicants and FIG codefendants, doctors, lay wit! nesses, and insureds.
Performs other functions as assigned.

Physical Actions
Besides sedentary work, job duties require some or all of the following physical activities: Carrying and lifting up to 25 pounds, hearing, seeing, standing and walking (including up and down stairs and steps).
Physical Environment
Required job duties are normally performed in a climate-controlled office environment, with some exposure to uncontrolled outside environmental conditions and travel via automobile and/or commercial transportation.
Education Requirements
Four year college degree; and the American Educational Institute's WCLA (Workers' Compensation Claims Law Associate) designation. A JD degree is preferred.
Experience Requirements
Four years with FIG including one year as a Senior Workers' Compensation Indemnity Claims Technician.
