Facilitate the process of submitting files to CMS to ensure submissions include proper information, and are in compliance with CMS submission requirements.
Manage and balance team’s production to ensure each member is achieving goals
Work with fellow MSP Compliance Attorneys (MSA / CP) to ensure that all aspects of the CMS Submission process are functioning and that all customer service needs relating to the submission process are being met.
Review Medicare Set-Asides before submission and recommend revision, if appropriate, to adjusters
Review CMS decisions and provide rebuttal options, if ap! propriate, to adjusters where CMS has issued a counter-higher decision
Actively assist with the Customer Service project as it relates specifically to concerns relating to the current CMS process.
Consult with adjusters, defense attorneys, plaintiff attorneys, and Medicare on all CMS submission issues relative to workers’ compensation and liability cases.
Interface with Account Services Department and Sales Team to obtain documentation for CMS submission, and in response to CMS development and closing letters.
Research and interpret the Medicare Secondary Payer statute, Code of Federal Regulations and CMS policy memoranda in order to provide instant, comprehensive, highly analytical legal advice to clients and third parties.
Draft memoranda, both internal and external, explaining Medicare Secondary Payer statute and CMS policy memoranda recommending protocols for clients and third parties
Assure timely and efficient re! sponse to clients needs, including adherence to SLA’s relative to: CMS Submissions, Development Letter follow up, Decision Letter follow up and Negotiation follow up.
Provides coaching and training to their employees as necessary
Participate in the interviewing and selection process
Manage performance management process, including but not limited to, annual reviews, quarterly reviews, corrective action plans, etc.
EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
Juris Doctorate
Member of a State Bar Association in good standing
1 -3 years legal experience.
1 year managing employees preferred
Strong work ethic
Exceptional organizational abilities and excellent writing skills.
Strong written and oral communication skills
Must be approachable and able to build constructive relationships with clients
Must be an outgoing, team player willing to take on challenges and! must understand the importance of project completion, attention to det! ail and meeting deadlines
Must be highly motivated and able to work individually with a great deal of self direction
Prior experience with workers’ compensation a significant plus
An action-oriented, problem solving individual who enjoys responding to varied projects and challenges is the right person for this position
