Project Associate- Chapel Hill, NC (Part-time) [United States]


 
Overview:
Join AIR as a Project Associate with our Learning Supports program area, where we provide research and technical assistance to federal, state, and local clients, primarily focusing on the supports children need to be ready to learn in the K-12 education system. Our Learning Supports program area uses a proactive and preventative framework to support these content areas:

This person will provide some office management support for the Chapel Hill, NC office and task/administrative support for AIR’s Economic Evaluation of Policies and Programs (EEPP) Methods Hub and education and health evaluation projects run out of the Chapel Hill office.

This position will begin as part-time, with benefits, and the possibility of increasing to full time in the future. Candidates for this position must be willing to work in the Chapel Hill office at least 4 days per week.

Responsibilities:
The responsibilities for the position include:
  • Maintain standard (and, as assigned, develop) processes and procedures for effective administrative support services for project and office operations. Develop, implement and utilize planning, scheduling, and tracking tools and systems.
  • Assist research project leadership teams with activities related to internal and external (research participant and client) communication.
  • Formulate standard administrative documents; prepare routine correspondence, and draft custom correspondence.
  • Provide administrative support as needed to senior staff and project leaders including calendar scheduling, meeting coordination, and mail management.
  • Provide project coordination for projects with multiple timelines, budgets, and program inputs.
  • Manage the front reception desk at the Chapel Hill office, letting vendors and visitors into the suite as needed. Coordinate with facilities staff at AIR’s headquarters in Virginia on any office needs such as office supplies, kitchen needs, and copier repairs.
  • Perform quality control reviews of project-related materials to improve consistency/correctness of information, data, conformity to grammatical principles and style guidelines, and logic/consistency/readability of language.
  • Assist with coordination of proposals, including ensuring all deadlines are met and all sections of the proposal are complete.
  • Plan and manage own work time to ensure that assignments are completed in an efficient and effective manner and that work is timely, of high quality, and accurate. Appropriately seek guidance/direction. Comply with directions, policies and procedures. Work cooperatively with others in planning and executing tasks and in transitioning work as necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external team members to resolve issues.
Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree, Associate’s degree or HS diploma
  • Excellent proofreading, language, and analytic skills
  • Office or project management experience
  • Proficiency within Windows environment and with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Previous technical proofreading or copy-editing experience is a plus but not required
  • Experience with Airtable is a plus but not required

Disclosures:

AIR’s Total Rewards Program, is designed to reward our staff competitively and motivate them to achieve our critical mission. This position offers an anticipated salary of $28.00/hour. Salary offers are made based on internal equity within the institution and external equity with competitive markets. Please note this is the annual salary range for candidates that are based in the United States.
